Borovets - Resort of Champions

Situated at 1300 m altitude, on Rila Mountain's northern slopes, at the very foot of Mussala peak, Borovets is easily accessible from all over the country, 70 km away from Sofia and 120 km away from Plovdiv.

The resort offers excellent conditions for skiing, snowboarding, cross country or just winter holidays surrounded by the majestic pine-tree forest. There are 58 kilometers of marked ski runs. Тhe lift facilities are renovated every year. The resort boasts also a brand new snow making system, covering an area of above 20 hectares, including ski runs "Yastrebets 3" and "Popangelov" /former "Yastrebets 2"/. The snowmaking system is working full-time during the ski season, as well, covering ski runs "Rila", "Iglika", "Martinovi Baraki 2" and "Martinovi Baraki 3". The runs are sound-tracked and lit up by modern lighting systems, allowing for night skiing fun. A new 200 meters escavator is operating in Borovets since 2007. It is one of the longest in Europe and is transporting the skiers from "Markudjik" ski area to the upper station of the gondola lift. There is a 10 kilometers ski track for easy downhill from "Markudjik" ski area to the center of the resort.

FOR THE GUESTS OF BOROVETS we could offer a visit to the Rila Monastery, founded in the 10th century (with a lunch). It has a remarkable architecture, mural paintings and a rich collection of icons. This is the biggest monastery in Bulgaria, a real spiritual centre of exceptional importance in the history of our country. The proximity of Borovets to Sofia gives an opportunity for a sightseeing tour of the capital. At the beginning of January, in the town of Pernik, which is only 20 km away from Sofia, a big carnival of the mummers from all of Bulgaria takes place - a real attraction for the foreign guests.
